Cellar DoorTucked away in picturesque and tranquil Merton Valley is the Growlers Gully cellar door. You will find us 3.5 km up Shaws Road.Our tin dog ‘Zarish’ (not quite Shiraz backwards) will greet you, so make his day and give his tail a wag as you pass.
The cellar door offers premium wines for sale and tasting. On weekends we offer pre-booked gourmet platters incorporating local produce, (make sure you have ordered by Friday morning). Relax with a good wine, in the informal setting and enjoy the spectacular views over the vineyard to Mount Buller in the distance and Mount Strathbogie nearby.
The unique construction method of rammed earth is in keeping with the rural surrounds and has the bonus of being aesthetically appealing. The building has wonderful thermal properties ideal for the cellaring of wine. We do not require air conditioning so are able to reduce our environmental footprint.
The cellar door is open weekends from 11am –5pm. We are available at other times but it is best to ring first to avoid disappointment. We are closed Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day. New Year’s Day or cellar door is at the Merton Races.
PS. We do take breaks now and then so occasionally will be closed some weekends. To avoid disappointment ring first.
